Tasting notes
The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru is another wine with quite pronounced SO2. Beneath that lies an exotic and peachy Puligny with hints of tarte citron and white tea. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly viscous opening—not as tensile as Olivier Leflaive's Pucelles. It’s almost burly in style with a waxy-textured, slightly resinous finish. This Pucelles wants to makes a statement, though I am just seeking more mineralité to back up its lofty ambitions. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Very flinty and smoky, this white Puligny-Montrachet has gigantic energy and drive, but remains as poised as a prima ballerina who stands “en pointe” with apparent effortlessness. Long, intensely mineral finish that is so focused and refined. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
