Big, bold and brooding, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon The Bully boosts a juicy, spicy and oaky nose that overflows from the glass with hedonistic generosity. Full-bodied and with 100% new French oak, the palate offers a touch of volatility that seems to work across the mid-palate with elements of tar and scorched violets before offering up flavors of chocolate-covered blueberries and wild black cherry syrup. The wine continues to a long, expanding finish with flavors of Chambord. 9,000 bottles were made.

Lots of toast, lead pencil, graphite, and darker currants emerge from the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon The Bully, which reminds me of a great Pauillac, only on steroids. Based on 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, all from Red Mountain, it’s full-bodied, has building tannins, lots of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming10-15 years.
Bright medium ruby. Musky scents of blackberry, cassis, espresso, bitter chocolate and smoky, cedary oak. Plush, mouthfilling wine with strong coffee/mocha oak currently overshadowing concentrated dark berries. Savory as much as sweet. This densely packed, take-no-prisoners Cabernet finishes with powerful but ripe tannins and very good length. But it will need at least a year or two to absorb some of its alcohol, not to mention its obvious oakiness. (15.2% alcohol; 90% new French oak)
