Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru 2011 from Drouhin-Vaudon has a crisp and vivid citric bouquet with an understated sense of minerality, although it is missing the vigor one would expect from a grand cru. The palate is clean and fresh with a saline entry and sharp acidity, but missing real penetration toward the finish that pulls up too short.

Closed on the nose, but a lovely buttery note and pert acid gives a nice combination of broadness with a cleansing finish. Just-ripe fruit. Enticing. (RH)
Concentrated and nervy on the nose. Not as concentrated as a great vintage but very solid and with lots of early maturing pleasure. Sweet start – a little sweeter than the Chablis norm. Good for airlines? (JR)
