Tasting notes
Inky violet. Rich, smoky aromas of perfumed raspberry and blackberry complicated by sexy oak spices. Plump and supple, the dark berry flavors showing impressive weight and sweetness. Nicely managed tannins add complexity and focus to the lush fruit, which fills the mouth and builds through the finish.

Deep ruby. Blackberry and cherry liqueur aromas complemented by harmonious oak spices, violet and fresh black pepper. Vibrant on the palate, with flavors of fresh blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry, licorice candy, smoked meat, vanilla and clove. Finishes firm but with a sweet quality and a hint of star anise.(NegociantsUSA Napa CA
The Bordeaux-like 2002 Shiraz is a blend of 92% Shiraz, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Malbec, and 1% Merlot aged in French and American wood for 16 months, 55% of which was new. A deep black currant, earth, licorice, and spice box-scented bouquet is followed by a pretty, medium-bodied, pure red with an attractive texture as well as a surprisingly long, lightly tannic finish. It will drink well for 7-8 years. Importer: Negociants, USA, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 259-0993
