Tasting notes
Shimmering ruby-red. Ripe boysenberry and black raspberry on the nose, which is complemented by suggestions of candied flowers, mocha, vanilla and baking spices. Offers appealingly sweet, expansive red/blue fruit, allspice and vanilla flavors that become livelier as the wine opens up. This comes off energetic, with plenty of richness. Dusty tannins add shape to an impressively long, focused and spice-driven finish. 71% new French oak.

The Soberanes Vineyard has been producing some brilliant Pinot Noirs of late, and I loved the 2019 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard from Roar. Loads of wild strawberries, dried flowers, spice, and loamy earth all give way to a medium to full-bodied, seamless, beautifully balanced 2019 that has plenty of mid-palate depth, ripe, slightly softer tannins, and a great finish. It's another terrific wine to drink over the coming 7-8 years.
