Score 88+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2009

Bright red-ruby. Brooding aromas of cassis, licorice, chocolate and spicecake. Rather tight and dry; much less pliant and easygoing than the Estate cabernet but displays good density and depth. Blackcurrant and licorice flavors are nicely framed by a firm acid spine. With its chewy tannins, this is showing the structured side of 2005.
