Tasting notes
Lots of varietal notes of currants, leafy tobacco, spring flowers, and chalky earth emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Passage, a balanced, medium to full-bodied, pure, elegant Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. It shows the more elegant, pretty style of the vintage and is going to drink nicely for a solid 10-15 years.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Passage is dark and inward. It slowly opens up with nuances of mint and pine giving way to black cherries and crushed rocks. This is silky and refined, washing across the palate with elegant, textural red fruits and mineral-tinged acids that add a more tactile feel toward the close. Hints of mocha and sweet herbal tones linger on and on, as the 2019 finishes lightly structured with a wild berry concentration.
Fantastic, firm and juicy, the 2019 Grand Passage offers a delightfully mineral and dark berry essence while aromas of pencil shavings, dusty plums and sweet oak spices waft out of the glass. Full-bodied, lush and still tight, the palate takes some time to open and unwind its complex and generously layered expression. The wine continues to unpack and reveals a delightful kiss of herbal essence over the long-lingering finish. It’s still tight and will benefit from additional years of bottle aging, so be patient and reward your future self.
