Tasting notes
Full bright ruby. Sexy, deeply pitched aromas of black fruits, violet, mocha and earth. Dense, chewy and fine-grained; very ripe but classically dry, showing a stronger saline character and more medicinal reserve than the Private Reserve. Finishes with serious tannic spine and adamant dryness. Today the Private Reserve is more harmonious; this wine demands still needs more time in bottle to expand and gain in sweetness. (14.5% alcohol)

Ruby-red. Cassis, plum, blackberry syrup, chocolate, licorice and herbs on the nose. The palate suggests a wide range of ripeness, with flavors ranging from cool and medicinal to chocolatey. Has good mid-palate flesh but the broad, powerful tannins are quite chewy and a bit dry. This vineyard generally does better in cooler years, notes winemaker Laurie Hook.
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Home Vineyard is another up-front, accessible Cabernet Sauvignon. Licorice, mint and sweet red berries are some of the notes that flow from this juicy, expressive wine. Only the slightly dry tannins keeps the score from going higher.
