Chappellet's 2007 Cabernet Franc is rather cedary at this stage of its evolution, with pronounced scents of pipe tobacco and cigar box joined by vanilla and vestiges of fruit. For all that, this medium to full-bodied wine is impressively plush and velvety, seemingly in no danger of cracking up, finishing long, concentrated and just a touch warm.

A rich and layered ripe red with berries, walnuts and some plum undertones. Herbal. Full and rather chewy with solid tannins. Holding on nicely. Drink now.
