Tasting notes
(made with entirely destemmed fruit and 50 percent new oak) Limpid ruby-red. Aromas of raspberry liqueur, cherry pie, vanilla and woodsmoke; a white pepper note emerges slowly and adds spicy lift. Stains the palate with sweet red berry, cola and mocha flavors that show excellent clarity and lift thanks to a core of juicy acidity. Rich, in the style of the year, but energetic as well, showing impressive thrust and spicy lift on a gently tannic finish that features resonating red fruit and smoke notes.

The 2014 Pinot Noir Block 23 has a bright, pale to medium ruby-purple color and nose of black soil, charcoal and tree bark with black cherry and cranberry hints and a waft of dried herbs. The medium-bodied palate is earthy and slightly muted, offering chewy tannins and just enough acid, finishing a little flat.
