(80% vendange entier): Bright, deep ruby-red. Smoky blackberry, gunflint, minerals, wild rose and a whiff of roasted game bird on the nose and palate. Silky, dense and sweet yet magically weightless for all its gras. Finishes very long and harmonious, saturating the palate and leaving the taste buds vibrating. Great potential here.

The densely fruited nose immediately communicates just how concentrated an effort this is as the plum, stone, spice and earthy aromas jump from the glass to reveal powerful and impressively scaled and opulent flavors that possess remarkable richness. This is a robust and tautly muscular Lavaut with seemingly endless reserves of the characteristic minerality on the energetic and lightly menthol infused finish. Note that this will require plenty of cellar time to shed its very firm tannic shell but it should be well worth the wait. A flat out terrific 2011 1er that is absolutely worth your interest.
