Score 88/100 · Drink 2015-2022, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jul 2015
(at 13.5% alcohol, this is a full degree lower in octane than the 2004 example): Very bright ruby-red. Dark berries, mocha and earth on the nose, plus hints of sweet butter and Madeira; distinctly lower-toned than the 2004. Broad and supple on the palate; much more evolved than the 2004 but the savory black plum and mocha flavors show sneaky persistence. This has enough structure and grip to hang around for a while.
