Score 86/100 · Drink 2016-2020, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2016

The 2005 Pinot Noir Nuthouse has a satisfying black cherry and boysenberry scented nose with touches of soy and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with dusky black fruit, soft and a little smudged in the mouth, to be honest, more of a survivor than a Pinot that has really prospered in bottle. It tapers in quite drastically on the finish. Not bad, but it is essentially more of a curiosity than something I would relish drinking.

Medium red. Rich cherry, blackberry and chocolate aromas expand in the glass and gain an exotic incense quality. Creamy dark fruit flavors offer palate-staining concentration, with building spiciness and gentle tannins adding support. Finishes with good spicy lift and excellent persistence, with the blackberry flavor repeating.
