Tasting notes
The 2019 Riesling Erdener Prälat Grosses Gewächs Réserve is lifted with earthiness and crushed dandelion leaf on the nose. All is framed with dried lemon zest, rising with clarity and drive. The palate is smooth, rounded and shimmering with gorgeously red-cheeked peach fruit that is fresh and bright, despite the evolution of the wine. This has a beautiful richness at its core and, on the finish, an inherent citric coolness that is straight and endless. The aftertaste is sensational, encompassing, long and intense. (Bone-dry)

This is a giant of exotic fascination, and although it is six years old the vitality is totally electrifying. Extraordinarily concentrated, pure and refined on the medium-bodied palate, this just doesn’t stop pumping out the stony minerality and the delicate bitter almond notes that are characteristic of this site. Decades of aging potential. Unfiltered. Drink or hold.
The 2019 Erdener Prälat GG Réserve Alte Reben is deep, intense yet also refined on the saline and flinty-scented nose that represents the red slate aromas of the Prälat. Full-bodied, intense and quite rich on the palate, this powerful and structured Riesling reveals fine yet serious tannins and a long, complex and saline finish with noble lemon and orange bitters. It's a very promising Riesling with great aging capacity. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in December 2024.
