Boasting a supple and velvety texture that softly caresses the palate, the 2020 Syrah Collezione Privata shows how well this Rhône grape has adapted to the sunny and dry Tuscan climate. I love that the wine shows aromas of crushed limestone that are fundamental to the Chianti Classico playlist along with black fruit, black chocolate and cured tobacco. This is a generous, full-bodied red wine that ends on a deliciously soft note.
Full bottle 1,312 g. Dark, almost impenetrable ruby. Refined, complex oak with sweet cherry notes underneath and a hint of morocco leather and black olive. Supple, juicy, dark, sweet fruit with clayey tannins. Very long, juicy and neat. (WS)
About the producer
Situated north of Castellina, on the western side of Chianti Classico, Isole e Olena was created by the De Marchi family in the 1950s and has since become one of the region’s leading names. It is renowned for its top bottling Cepparello, a pure Sangiovese, as well as its brilliant Chardonnay.
