Score 90/100 · Drink 2014-2018, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2014

The 2011 Pinot Noir Kanzler Vineyard is bright, focused and articulate. Cranberry, freshly cut flowers, mint and crushed rocks all lift from the glass. The Kanzler is one of the more pointed, vibrant Pinots in this range, reflecting the qualities of a cool site in a cool vintage. The wine's mid-weight structure argues for near-term drinking.

Bright ruby-red. Explosive aromas of red fruit preserves, cola and candied flowers, with a subtle vanilla undertone. Fleshy and broad, with deep raspberry, cherry-cola and anise flavors lifted by tangy acidity. Closes spicy and long, with impressive energy and slow-mounting tannins. There were only 5 barrels made of this wine.
