Decent medium red with an amber rim. Wild, musky aromas of raspberry and mocha complicated by a balsamic cedary note. Fine-grained, pliant and sweet, conveying a slightly decadent mature Burgundy quality to its raspberry and balsamic flavors. Lovely vinosity and wonderfully suave, refined tannins extend the finish of this broad, tactile, savory, utterly delicious Clos des Ducs. A superb example of this very late vintage. This wine had the lowest pH of the tasting but you'd never guess that now as it stands out for its silkiness and sweetness today. A knockout. (13% alcohol; October 13 harvest; 16 h/h; 3.1 pH)
Renaud’s first vintage assisting Jacques. Harvest 13 October, yield 16 hl/ha, pH 3.1. Pale, transparent ruby. Sweet, violets and round. Such a charmer. Great balance. Great freshness and gorgeousness. Amazing transparency and length; purity. Pure Clos des Ducs. Not so showy but so perfect. (JR)

Marquis d'Angerville is synonymous with the village of Volnay, having long made some of the village’s finest wines. Best known for its Premier Cru monopole vineyard, Clos des Ducs, this estate crafts fine-boned, elegant styles of Pinot Noir – wines that act as standard-bearers for the appellation.
