Score 91/100 · Drink 1993-2003, Robert Parker, Dec 1993
Lignier's 1991 Gevrey-Chambertin-Les Combottes (only 15 cases will be available in the United States) is a great wine, offering up an exotic bouquet of jammy red and black fruits intermingled with scents of Asian spices, herbs, and sweet oak. Round, luscious, and concentrated, there are no hard edges to this hedonistic Pinot Noir. Drink it over the next 8-10 years. One of the superstars of Burgundy, Hubert Lignier's stunning 1991s are even better than his 1990s (which were amazing wines). All the 1991s were bottled unfined and unfiltered. Importer: Select Vineyards, Neal Rosenthal, New York, NY.
