The intensely yellow colored 2015 Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Superior offers a deep and concentrated, nicely spicy and flinty flavored bouquet of perfectly ripe Riesling along with delicate blue slate and crushed stone aromas plus a hint of Grünhäuser oak. Full-bodied, intense and elegant on the palate, with a good mineral grip, the 2015 Superior is very rich but lacks the refreshing transparency and finesse of the dry GG counterpart. I find it pretty rich and concentrated, well structured but less fascinating than in former vintages.

AP number 23 16. Pale straw. Quite rich baked-apple nose. Firm and chewy on the palate – even a little metallic. A solid but earthbound offering. (JR)
Selection of best Riesling clones. Usually about 15-20 g/l RS. 'Bottled as we find it.' They had to fight to be allowed to bottle it – twice to court. Very lively and fresh but great balance. (JR)
