The 2021 Riesling Heissenberg was grown on a dry and sheltered Triassic sandstone site with little wind. A lovely touch of vividly juicy white fruit reminds of pale melon and white peach. The citrus edge here is aromatic, framing supremely ripe fruit with fine, firm aromatics that remind of pomelo. It is bone dry on the finish. Direction, poise, depth and stone are all present, all waiting to blossom. Give this time. (Bone-dry)

Full bottle 1,197 g. Certified organic (AB, Ecocert) and sustainable (HVE). Heissenberg means 'hot hill'. South-facing slopes on a Psammites sandstone subsoil. 27-year-old vines. Hand-picked, long slow press, static settling, slow temperature-controlled fermentation at 18 °C, long ageing on fine lees. RS < 0.05 g/l. Sharp, insistent, broad-sword acidity running through hints of honey, liquorice and crushed tarragon. Muscular, pungent, bold and a little bit blunt. (TC)
The 2021 Riesling Heissenberg is from pure Triassic sandstone with little topsoil. It is a very sheltered site and heats up quickly, and there is little juice in small berries, so it always has much concentration. The nose speaks of Mirabelle, citrus zest and a slightly bitter phenolic edge. This is concentrated and bold; you can almost taste grape skin and tannins. The finish is downright salty. Very individual and incredibly long. (Bone-dry)
