Score 95+/100 · Drink 2025-2042, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2020

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is a tiny production of just three barrels taken from single blocks picked pre-fire. Cedar, tobacco, licorice, anise and wild cherry infuse the 2017 with stunning complexity and depth. The heat of the year is evident in the wine's flavor profile, and yet all of the elements are impeccably balanced.

Tasted from barrel, Massimo Di Costanzo's 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is hugely promising. Intense floral and red fruit character run through this inky, explosive wine. The 2017 is a bit richer and more exotic than the norm here, and yet the wine is simply compelling. I can't wait to taste it from bottle.
