The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru is lacking amplitude and vigour on the nose. Slightly blurred red fruit, kirsch and marmalade scents (possible with a faint TCA?) The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, lots of sinew here. The oak is quite toasty and rather obscuring the terroir expression on the finish. More winemaking than terroir at the moment. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru offers ebullient red fruit on the nose with pressed rose petal and crush stone, a touch of incense emerging with time. There is wonderful mineralité on the sweet, candied palate, touches of dark chocolate and a liberal sprinkling of white pepper on the finish. Not quite at the level of the Clos Saint-Jacques - but not far off.
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has a perfumed, floral bouquet of rose petal and potpourri scents enmeshed with raspberry preserve and strawberry. The palate is very fresh on the entry, offering superb tannins, wonderful acidity and great cohesion toward the mineral-rich finish. This is a stupendous wine that will age for 20–30 years.
