Tasting notes
The 2023 Berg Rottland Auslese is very intense and rich on the concentrated botrytis nose that shows notes of candied lemon peel and lemon chutney as well as salt and green-fig mustard. Remarkably finessed and crystalline on the palate, this is an elegant, lightweight yet intense and textured, concentrated yet digestible Auslese in the gold capsule (botrytis) style. There are grapefruit bitters on the aftertaste. Excellent indeed. 10% stated alcohol. Diam 10 cork. Tasted in August 2024.

From a fully south-facing site, the 2023 Riesling Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland is a picture of citrus. Aromatic tangerine and grapefruit unite on the scented nose, drawing you in. The palate is full of verve, flow and juiciness, presenting a lovely depth of ripe white peach juiciness. There is freshness and tension, but for now, the absolute mouthwatering nature of 2023 reigns supreme, all backed by a wonderfully smooth, creamy texture. (Bone-dry)
