Tasting notes
(opened from personal storage). A wonderfully layered and complex nose speaks of ripe and fully mature aromas where added depth is present in the form of earth and distinct leather and animale nuances that continue onto the gorgeously rich, round and suave flavors that possess excellent concentration before culminating in a suave, mouth coating and hugely long finish. I very much like the velvety character but what really sets this apart is the balance and sheer depth. A classic Vaucrains that is drinking perfectly today though one that should continue to reward extended cellaring if desired. Note that one recent bottle displayed an annoying amount of volatile acidity which extended to the finish causing it to be clipped; though drinkable, this example bore little resemblance to what I describe above.
