2019 Saumur Champigny Les Poyeux

A delicately fragrant expression of Cabernet Franc. There's a charming, silky start to the 2019 Les Poyeux , sitting pretty in the mouth. There's definite ripeness of fruit with a fondant-like softness on the mid-palate providing flesh, yet this wine remains light on its feet, focused and fresh. Aromatically lifted with a touch of balsamic, red cherry, blackberry, spice and black olive. The tannins have a tight pinch on the finish, perhaps caused by the year's drought or it may need more time...We'll see.
