A new cuvée I hadn’t seen before is the 2013 Blue Line 36/24/36. This wine spent 22 months in oak and is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and the rest equal parts Petit Verdot and Malbec. This wine has terrific texture, a big, smoky charcoal-scented nose with blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, some barbecue notes, great texture and length, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. It should drink well young and keep for 15-20 years.

A dense, opulent wine, the 2013 36-24-36 Blueline Estate Red Wine captures the personality of the vintage. Inky and unctuous to the core, with fabulous overall balance, the 2013 hits the palate with notable intensity. This is a classic Tony Biagi wine built on opulence and unctuousness. All the elements are very nicely integrated throughout. Sweet floral notes add brightness to balance the sheer opulence of the fruit. There are just four barrels of the 36-24-36, a selection of the estate's best fruit.

Black fruit, incense, tobacco, gravel and spice build as this potent Calistoga Cabernet shows off its alluring personality.
