Tasting notes
The 2023 Riesling Pündericher Marienburg Fass #4 Kabinett immediately pronounces its slaty heart, is stony origin, still swinging with slight reduction and overtones of freshly cut pineapple. Gorgeous sweet tropical fruit and ripe Amalfi lemon dance with the stone on a beautifully citric palate. It’s light-footed, serene, absolutely precise, balanced and really long. Elegance and finesse become clear on the finish. The 62 g/L of residual sugar is juxtaposed against a thrilling 9.8 g/L of acidity. Available at auction: 720 bottles, 12 magnums, 3 double magnums. Grosse Lage. Dominant sweetness right now, but balanced in and of itself. Lively, fresh peach and meadow herbs. Mouth-watering candied-lemon opulence. Pretty, elegant and approachable despite its fresh bottling (three days prior to tasting). (PS)
