Tasting notes
The 2016 Côte de Brouilly from Alex Foillard is very pretty, wafting from the glass with a floral bouquet of rose hip and Griotte cherry. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied, pure and juicy, with melting tannins, tangy acids and a fragrant, saline finish. Derived from a north-facing site with granitic and sand soils, it was matured in cement tank.

Lurid violet. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes red berry and cherry liqueur, smoky minerals and incense. Energetic, sharply focused blueberry and raspberry flavors show very good depth and pick up a hint of musky rhubarb with air. Silky, harmonious tannins provide framework to an impressively long, mineral-tinged finish that leaves behind a suggestion of Chambord.
