The 2023 Rausch Kabinett is very precise and clear on the well-defined, precise and filigreed nose that intermingles very fine slate and bright fruit aromas. Juicy and savory on the palate, this is an intense and complex, gorgeously saline and filigreed Kabinett with black tea with milk and brown rock sugar aromas. It is weightless yet intense and irresistible. 8% stated alcohol and just below 50 grams per liter of residual sugar. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024 from AP 4 24.
The 2023 Riesling Saarburger Rausch Kabinett is like a sun-ripened, red-cheeked peach: aromatic, juicy and so scented. The palate drips with juice, ripe and smooth, yet always understated despite its exquisitely pure aroma. Zestiness channels the finish, but the shining, aromatic peach absolutely defines the character of this tender wine.
The 2023 Riesling Saarburger Rausch Kabinett AP #3 beckons only with slight hints of tangerine zest on the nose, almost tantalizingly so. More air brings a touch of ripe white peach. Exquisite lightness verges on weightlessness, on veil-like subtlety that is simply exquisite. At its core, the palate has a wealth of fruit: juicy, ripe tangerine flesh, some Tarocco orange peel and tender, aromatic stone fruit. This is a picture of Kabinett, absolutely in that ephemeral house style. It’s a classic, serene, calm, totally disarming beauty. Available at auction: 420 bottles, 30 magnums, one methuselah. (Sweet)
