Tasting notes
The 1999 Barbaresco Riserva Moccagatta is laced with crushed flowers, dried cherries, mushrooms, licorice and spices. Soft, silky and supple on the palate, the 1999 has aged well for the vintage, but the aromatics are a bit faded, suggesting the Moccagatta is best enjoyed over the next few years.

The 1999 Barbaresco Moccagatta Riserva is floral in character, ready and mature, though the volume and solidity should insure good drinking until 2014. Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel. (212) 629-0200
Deep dark burnished ruby. Showing an evolved nose of wet earth, tar, prunes, and spices with very sweet, almost over-ripe fruit on the palate. The finish is a bit short, and the wine seems to lack the overall balance the best of these Riservas have.
Medium red. Showy nose offers mint, violet, herbs and nuts. Sweet, fleshy and rich, with lovely depth of flavor. Rather elegantly styled, supple Barbaresco, with harmonious acids leavening the wine's sweetness. This has the verve of the vintage's better examples. Finishes with well-buffered tannins and very good subtle length.
