Good medium red. Expressive aromas of redcurrant, mocha, wild herbs, brown spices, truffle and game. Pliant and nicely evolved, showing a creamy sweetness but more mocha and soil flavors than remaining red fruits. Has good texture to support its fine-grained tannins but still turned a bit dusty with aeration. Frédéric Magnien noted that this wine began with "huge malic acidity and was undrinkable at the beginning."

Deep, full red. Raspberry, strawberry, brown spices, cola and underbrush on the nose, lifted by a floral element. Juicy, spicy and penetrating, with a bright, tightly coiled flavor of black raspberry. Offers good density, sweetness and verve. Finishes ripe and firm. Very Morey in style.
The 2001 Morey-St.-Denis Les Chaffots, a sweet plum-scented effort, is broad, ample, and rich. Medium-bodied, suave, and sensual, it slathers the palate with lush layers of super-ripe blueberries and cherries. Its impressively long, candied finish reveals supple tannin as well as additional waves of red fruits. Drink this hedonist’s delight over the next 7-8 years.
