Score 89/100 · Drink 2001-2008, Robert Parker, Jun 2001
The 1999 d'Arry's Original Shiraz/Grenache (52% of the former and 48% of the latter) reveals wonderful scents of blackberries, black cherries, cassis, earth, leather, and spice. Medium to full-bodied, spicy, and supple-textured, it will provide delicious drinking over the next 6-7 years. This is a terrific bargain. Importer: Old Bridge Cellars (Rob McDonald), Napa, CA; tel. Moderately saturated medium red. Red berry liqueur, strawberry, spicecake, pepper and a floral note on the nose. Soft, lush and peppery in the mouth, with noteworthy density and depth of flavor. Seems a bit longer on the finish than the '98 version of this wine.
