Score 91/100 · Drink 2024-2030, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous, Jun 2024

The 2022 Pinot Noir Alte Reben was harvested from some vines planted in the late 1970s and some 20-year-old vines in Inzersdorf. A third of the fruit was destemmed, but the berries were left whole; the rest was whole-bunch-fermented, then matured in 500-liter barrels with thick staves. Smoke and vanilla are the first aromas on the nose, speaking of wood rather than fruit. The palate brings in ripe, juicy cherry fruit with some oak tannin, a tender texture, freshness and smoothness. Despite the oak impression, a lovely vein of acidity makes this fine-boned wine shine. This is a slender, bright Pinot with a fine structure. (Bone-dry)
