Score 90/100 · Drink 2011-2026, Robert Parker, May 2011

The outstanding 2001 Lake William Proprietary Red is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 16% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. Complex aromas of sweet black cherries, black currants, charcoal, cedarwood and loamy soil are reminiscent of a St.-Julien from Bordeaux. With a dark ruby/purple color, medium to full body, and a rich, textured, impressive style, this outstanding 2001 is more evolved than the Estate cuvee yet is capable of lasting another 15 or more years.
