Tasted blind. Lighter than most. Unusual aroma. A bit sweet and sour, then rather hard on the finish. Evolved, others suggested. (JH)
The 2013 du Tertre has a light, pencil lead bouquet that is calling out for more fruit. It disconcertingly loses some vigor in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with tart cherry fruit on the entry, quite high acidity with a raw and abrasive finish. There are much better wines in recent vintages, but you probably know that already. Also tasted at the château in March 2016 with consistent notes.
Milky coffee, cassis and chewy structure. Rather stringy and mean without enough fruit generosity to provide interest. (RH)
About the producer
Until recently owned by the Albada Jelgersma family (along with Giscours), Ch. du Tertre is one of the oldest estates in the region – with a history stretching back 1,000 years. Classified as a Fifth Growth, its 54 hectares of vines sit on high gravel outcrops in Margaux.
