Score 96/100 · Drink 2020-2035, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2020

The 2017 Red Wine checks in as 45% Cabernet Franc, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, sourced from sites in Coombsville, St. Helena, and Atlas Peak, that spent 20 months in 75% new French oak. It's another juicy, incredibly pure, delicious effort, offering loads of blue fruits, kirsch liqueur, violets, white flowers, and spice as well as full-bodied richness, a seamless, plump texture, and a great finish. It has a wonderful floral character, perfect balance, and a great finish. Drink it any time over the coming 15-20 years.

The 2017 Red Wine, a Cabernet Franc-based blend, is another terrific wine in this range. Bright aromatics and expressive floral notes give the 2017 a good bit of vibrancy and freshness. Sweet red cherry, red plum, wild flowers, mint, cedar, mocha and pipe tobacco develop in the glass, but it is the wine's energy and vibrancy that stand out most. This is such a gorgeous wine.
