Notes of spices, herbs and baked dark berries preface the 2022 Cornas Sans Soufre Ajouté, a medium to full-bodied, compact and robust wine with an impressive chassis of structured tannins. It finishes with a long, spicy and dark wild berries-inflected finish that is a bit firm and dry.

The 2022 Cornas Sans Soufre Ajouté is more rustic relative to the other bottlings from the same vintage. Framed by chalky tannins, it achieves ripe black fruit flavors, cedar, licorice and a flicker of pencil shaving. Fleshy tones give more nuance. This ends with good length on the structured finish.

Cask sample. Real vibrancy on the nose, sandalwood and an earthy, stony, inked note. The palate is vibrant with a rich core of fruit. The tannins are firm and totally integrated into the concentrated fruit core, this feels so alive. (AC)
