Tasting notes
Based on 98% Syrah and 2% Roussanne, the 2020 Dirt Worshipper is brilliant and just about jumps out of the glass with its exotic blue and black fruits, spring flowers, game, bay leaf, and bacon fat-driven aromatics. It's beautiful on the palate as well and is medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, good freshness, and ripe yet building tannins. This classic, cool climate-inspired, incredibly complex Syrah will evolve for at least a decade.

The 2020 Dirt Worshipper is dark and brooding, blending black raspberry, smoky sage and black peppercorns. This is silky-smooth and elegant, with spicy red fruits and inner florals that cascade across a stern acid and mineral core. The 2020 finishes remarkably fresh yet structured, begging for some time in the cellar while a tart fruit concentration lingers. The future is bright.
The 2020 Dirt Worshipper Syrah, blended with 2% Roussanne, has a deep ruby-purple color and aromas of cassis, bitter chocolate, mint, vanilla and coffee beans. The full-bodied palate is dense with somewhat undefined fruits, chalky tannins and a satisfying yet slightly oaky finish. It doesn't offer the definition or refined texture I expect from Denner.
