Tasting notes
A blend of 52% Sauvignon Blanc and 48% Sauvignon Musqué. Whole-cluster pressed and then cold-settled for 24 hours in tank. Transferred to French oak barrels (13% new, 69% neutral) and stainless-steel barrels (18%) for fermentation. Aged sur lie for six months with periodic bâtonnage. Aromas of lemon peel and pink grapefruit. Clean flavours of lemon and grapefruit have a zippy brightness thanks to excellent acidity. Notes of grapefruit and a hint of vanilla linger in the finish. Sourced from Ryan's Vineyard in Oak Knoll, Madera's 2022 Sauvignon Blanc features a flat-out gorgeous blend of grassiness, melon, fig and subtle hints of oak on the nose (13% new French oak, remainder was in older wood or stainless steel). It's medium to full-bodied, plump, rounded and even a touch tropical (guava) in the mouth, with an opulent, extended finish.
