Score 88/100 · Drink 2014-2018, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Jun 2014

The 2011 Syrah is fruit-driven, with aromas of ripe damsons and blackberries, some floral notes and subtle spices. The palate is quite powerful, with abundant tannins ending slightly dry. Give it a little time or try with powerful food. Drink 2015-2018. Polkura is the project from MOVI founder Sven Bruchfeld, a Syrah fanatic in Marchigue, in the occidental part of Colchagua. He has worked for Errazuriz, Montgras and Santa Carolina. The vineyards are from granitic soils at 30 kilometers from the sea in Colchagua, except for a white from Leyda. Polkura means yellow stone, which is what you find in the vineyards. Very powerful, concentrated and ripe wines here. Importer: Craveiro Imports, Denver, CO; tel. (303) 295-1357; www.craveirousa.com
