Tasting notes
The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva is a bold, intense wine. Sweet tobacco, menthol, licorice, new oak, orange peel and spice overtones add aromatic complexity to this decidedly racy, ripe Chianti Classico. Pliant and inviting, with terrific structure, the 2015 will drink well with minimal cellaring. There is a good bit of depth and plenty of power, as well as a touch of wildness to the 2015.

The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva is packed tight with ripe fruit flavors and sunshine-driven aromas of ripe fruit and blackberry confit. Indeed, the wine is too ripe for my tastes, with a taste profile that stops just short of jammy and sweet. Dried cherry and blackcurrant are followed by tar, smoke and cured leather. I am suggesting a near-term drinking window as a result.
Castellina in Chianti. 90% Sangiovese, 5% Colorino, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Developing ruby with orange-tinged rim. Spicy more than fruity on the nose and with hints of bacon. Sweet fruit shot through by acidity and big tannins and with hints of new oak. Commercially viable, if not very refined or typical. (WS)
