Tasting notes
The 2004 Balifico (Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon) presents herbs, bell pepper, spiced black pepper, cassis and blackberries, with a lovely, expressive personality and finessed tannins on the finish. Although it is structured and full-bodied, owing to the relatively high altitude it remains somewhat linear in style. It will benefit from another year or two in bottle, after which it should drink well to age 15.
