Bright ruby. Suave raspberry and kirsch on the nose, with gentle floral and mineral qualities adding complexity. Fresh and juicy, with vibrant red fruit preserve flavors, dusty tannins and a long, sappy finish. Delicious already.

This sexy, sensual 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape is an anomaly in this structured, tannic vintage. It exhibits forward notes of sandalwood, plums, figs, black cherries, earth, spice, pepper, and resin. Broad, ripe, and round with low acidity and silky tannins, it should drink well for a decade. Importer: Martine’s Wines, Novato, CA; tel. (415) 883-0400
