Lively, meaty, savoury nose. Quite a silky texture and some real future to this wine – lots of fine tannin. Very well made but will it be evolved enough by 2010-12? Pretty tough. (JR)

Score 87-88/100 · Drink 2005-2013, Robert Parker, Apr 2003

A strong performance by this estate, the 2001 Couvent des Jacobins exhibits a saturated ruby/purple color along with scents of dried herbs, licorice, black fruits, and earth. Medium-bodied, with good acidity, ripe tannin, and a moderately long finish, this fruit-filled St.-Emilion will be at its finest between 2005-2013.
