The 2006 Branas Grand Poujeaux has a pretty nose with redcurrant and pomegranate, autumn leaves and clove, demonstrating more focus than the 2005. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, peppercorns, clove and ginger, gently fanning out towards the finish. This is a commendable 2006 Moulis that is perfect to drink now. Tasted at the Branas Grand Poujeaux vertical at the château.

Hint of oak still on the nose – a little bit confected but it certainly delivers more luscious fruit than most. Really quite appetising and with good balance. Worth ageing a bit longer than its peers. (JR)
