Score 93/100 · Drink 2011-2020, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Dec 2009

The 2008 Jimmy Section Shiraz was picked before the March heat wave. It offers up a perfume of sandalwood, Asian spices, bacon, and blueberry. Opulent on the palate and full-bodied, this balanced, lengthy wine will evolve for 2-3 years and deliver prime drinking from 2011 to 2020. Importer: Southern Starz, Huntington Beach, CA; tel. Glass-staining ruby. Ripe blueberry and candied cherry aromas, with suave incense and floral qualities adding complexity. Juicy, alluringly sweet dark berry flavors display a liqueur-like density but are braced by tangy minerality. This gained flesh and became more tannic with air, but not at the expense of its vibrancy, finishing with impressive clarity and spicy thrust.
