Score 89/100 · Drink 2019-2022, David Schildknecht, Vinous, Aug 2019

Scents and flavors of pear and quince characterize yet another Johannishof 2017 that is, for its vintage, unusually generously fruity and gentle. Yet the analysis reveals nine grams of acidity, so somehow they have been hidden-away; and I’d actually prefer to witness them translating into greater brightness or dynamic. That having been said, succulence and purity of fruit are highly flattering both on this bottling’s polished mid-palate and in its at once soothing and refreshing – not to mention buoyant – finish.
