I tasted the 2022 Moulin-à-Vent Coeur de Vigneronne on two occasions. This cuvée comes from 60-year-old vines and is completely destemmed before a relatively long élevage in barrel. It came across a little blowsy at the InterBeaujolais tasting, so I took the second bottle and gave it a one-hour decant at home. This was much better—forward, opulent and potent on the nose with layers of black plum and blueberry fruit. The palate is likewise reflective of the year's warm summer with glycerin-rich black fruit. This is a luxurious Beaujolais that will appeal to those who like a more hedonic style but delivered with panache. I bet it will age well (like the 2015).
