Tasted blind. First bottle: slight TCA. Second bottle: pale straw. Light but distinctive nose. Rather insipid. But an interesting nutty texture and real grip on the end. Gluey end. Interesting! Ambitious. Almonds. Polished. (JR)

The 2015 Encruzado is half aged in stainless steel, the other half for seven months in 80% new French oak. It comes in at 14.1% alcohol but doesn't seem nearly that big, thanks to the balance and acidity. This is rather crisp for the grape, especially with some oak treatment, and it has a fresh and lively feel once past the cream. Still a bit disjointed, with the capability of improving with another year or two in the cellar, it should easily hold a decade, maybe quite a bit more, if you like them on the older side. This is well done and it should be a great food wine.
