Tasting notes
Medium ruby-red. Very fresh scents of black raspberry, spicecake and bitter chocolate. Tightly wound but edge-free, boasting terrific intensity and restrained sweetness to its flavors of blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, licorice and spices. A very pure style of Syrah and not at all wild in the early going, but I suspect there's much more complexity to come from this very fresh, layered wine. Finishes very long, with ripe, harmonious but firm tannins. Incidentally, the Januiks did not make a Syrah from Weinbau Vineyard in 2016.

This dark and expressive syrah has a very polished feel with abundant fresh-blackberry aromas and flavors with attractive, spicy allure. The palate is woven together by plush, smooth-honed tannins. Long and even. Drink or hold.
